Sustainability
Our approach
Analysis
We look at the product, application, logistics, appearance and functional requirements.
Optimisation
We reduce material use, improve recyclability and look for the lowest environmental impact.
Implementation
Together, we work towards a practical, attractive and future-proof packaging solution.
Our own organisation
Within our own organisation, we also critically assess the impact of our activities on a daily basis. Practical and targeted steps enable us to make structural improvements in sustainability.
- • Our trucks comply with the Euro 6 emissions standard
- • Our premises in Gouda, including the distribution centre, are fully equipped with LED lighting
- • Our vehicle fleet is largely electric
- • We separate our own waste and send it for recycling
- • We aim to make our product range increasingly sustainable
Sustainable logistics
Together with our transport partner GLS, we are building sustainable logistics with tangible results. Electric delivery is being expanded step by step, investments are being made in charging infrastructure, and GLS uses 100% renewable electricity at its locations.
Corporate social responsibility
Our employees
We believe it is important that employees feel comfortable and can work in pleasant conditions with good employment terms.
- • a safe, clean and tidy working environment
- • opportunities for training and development
- • attention to job satisfaction and team activities
Our supply chain
We also pay attention to working conditions and responsible business practices at the factories we work with.
- • no child labour or discrimination
- • fair wages
- • safe working conditions
- • periodic inspections at manufacturers
Sustainable packaging
Recycled and recyclable packaging
Examples include recycled cardboard boxes, paper, filling materials and recyclable plastic packaging. This helps us reduce the demand for new raw materials and limit the use of fossil fuels.
Biobased and compostable packaging
For specific applications, we offer packaging based on natural raw materials such as sugar cane, starch, PLA and bamboo. These solutions are suitable for both the food and non-food sectors.
Reusable packaging
As an alternative to single-use packaging, we often recommend reusable solutions such as shopping bags, cups, cutlery and gift packaging. With repeated use, the environmental impact is significantly reduced.
Customisation and sustainability
The greatest challenge often lies in designing packaging that has the least possible impact on the environment while continuing to function optimally. Jongeneel Packaging works with you on this from the very first design phase.
We consider, among other things, water-based inks, laminate-free packaging, recycled materials and smart material choices tailored to use, shelf life and logistics.
Ultimately, the function of the packaging determines the choice of material and production method. Within these parameters, many attractive and sustainable solutions are possible today.
Our focus in optimisation
- • minimising material use
- • use of mono-materials
- • more compact and lightweight packaging
- • less transportation of air
- • lower CO₂ emissions
Certification and regulations
EUDR
The EUDR focuses on preventing deforestation. Materials such as wood, paper and cardboard fall under this regulation.
- • use of controlled raw materials, where possible
- • traceability in the supply chain
- • collaboration with reliable and certified partners
FSC® certification
We are proud of our FSC® certificate. Products bearing the FSC label come from responsibly managed forests.
We continue to expand our range with FSC-certified products and responsible material choices.
