Jongeneel Packaging in Gouda

History

Jongeneel Packaging has a long history dating back to 1893. What began as a printing company and shop in Gouda has grown over the generations into a packaging specialist with a broad range of products and a strong focus on personal contact, quality and continuity.

Much has changed in more than 130 years, but one thing has always remained the same: our commitment to our customers and our drive to keep developing.

From Gouda to growth

Jongeneel Packaging started on Oosthaven in 1893. In 1906, the company moved to the corner of Nonnenwater and Hoge Gouwe. In 1923, it moved to Lange Groenendaal. From these locations, Jongeneel continued to develop as a packaging specialist.

In 1989, we said goodbye to Gouda's city centre. This was a necessary step because the location could no longer accommodate the company's growth. At Nieuwe Gouwe Oostzijde, we gained access to more spacious offices, a showroom and a larger warehouse. Continued growth led to another move in October 2000, to our current location on Meridiaan in Gouda.

We now also have external warehouses in Benthuizen and Moerkapelle to accommodate further growth.

Family business and team of Jongeneel Packaging

A true family business

The company's roots lie with the Jongeneel family. In 1937, the company was taken over by Mr Vlok. In 1949, his daughter Marry Vlok worked in the shop. In 1954, Gerrit Pennewaard joined the company as a sales representative.

Marry Vlok later married Gerrit Pennewaard, giving Jongeneel Packaging the character of a true family business. In 1980, Robert Pennewaard took over the company from his parents. In 2000, Gert-Jan Pennewaard, Robert's brother, acquired a stake in the company. In 2015, Rick Pennewaard, Robert's son, acquired a stake and became the fourth generation within the family business.

That family heritage is still reflected in the way we work today: personal, committed and focused on long-term relationships.

Continuing to grow

Jongeneel Packaging has now been based at Meridiaan in Gouda for more than 20 years. From this location, we serve customers in a wide variety of industries every day with a broad range of packaging and custom solutions.

To provide even better support to our customers in the eastern Netherlands, we opened a sales office in Haaksbergen in 2023. This marked a new chapter in our history.
